  Basic Tips

• Watch for sparkles; they show you potential matches.
• Watch for patterns in the gems... an 'L' shape can usually match.
• Complete two gem sets at once for a point bonus.
• Make six good moves without pause to earn a Speed Bonus.
• Try to get your Score Multiplier up as quickly as possible by making chains.
• The Multiplier only drops a level if you miss a move when it's empty.
• Keep the Score Multiplier going by alternating matching and matchless moves.
• Max out the Chain Meter twice to earn superrare Fruit Gems.
• Fruit Gems clear all likecolored gems and have special powers.
• Match Bomb Gems with gems of the same color before they tick down.
• Bomb Gems can be destroyed by Flame or Lightning Gems.
• Destroying Bomb Gems adds matches to your Chain Meter.
• Blow Coals apart with Flame or Lightning Gems to get the Geodes inside.

Advanced Tips

• Take note of the transitions between Score Multipliers. When you've just increased your Multiplier, you have one free nonmatching twist before your Multiplier drops. If you're careful, you can alternate match/nonmatch twists to set up a better board.
• If you have multiple matches available and you're working on maintaining a chain, work from the top down; that way you won't disrupt the lower matches when you make the higher ones. 
• Keep an eye on the Bonus Challenge sequence. It's not easy, but if you get a chance it will greatly boost your Score Multiplier.
• Be aware of how much more of the level you have to complete. Often, particularly if your Score Multiplier is up, you can complete a level before Bomb Gems get a chance to count all the way down. 
• Generally speaking, hang on to your Flame, Lightning and Fruit Gems as long as you can, as they are very helpful when you get in a jam.
• Not only do Fruit Gems destroy all gems of the same color on the board when matched, but they also add 10 turns to all Bomb Gems.
• Locked and Doom Gems announce themselves one twist before they appear. You can use this to put them in a more advantageous position, i.e. away from the edge or next to an exploding gem or a gem of the same color. 
• You don't have to destroy Bomb Gems as soon as they appear; you just have to get them before they explode. Keep them in mind as you play, but you don't have to take direct action until their counters get down to 4 or 5 or so.
• Play Zen Mode and Challenge Mode to get a feel for how to create Flame and Lightning Gems.

Blitz Tips

• A top score in Blitz requires clever use of chains and multipliers.
• Try to store up as many explosive gems as possible until late in the game; you will earn far more points if you can detonate them all at once when your Score Multiplier is up.
• Treat the game like you're going for a Speed Bonus; as you're making one match, find the next one on the board.
• Be aggressive; don't worry so much about the Bombs.
• If at all possible, go for the Fruit.
• Try to keep an escape hatch; that is, a match you can make near the bottom of the board. When things get tight you can match it to shake up the board.

Challenge Tips

• If you get stuck on one Challenge type, move on to the next.
• When working on multiple detonations, create your exploding gems and then move them to the side away from your work space so as not to trigger them ahead of time.

INSTRUCTIONS

Goal

        The object of the game is to score as many points as possible by swapping adjacent gems to create sets, either horizontal or vertical, of 3 or more identical gems.

Controls

         Swap any two adjacent gems by clicking on one, then the one you want to swap it with. The gems must be adjacent vertically or horizontally not diagonally.

         You must create a valid set of three or more identical gems with each move, or the gems will revert back to their original position.

           Sets can be either horizontal or vertical, and can contain more than 3 gems. When you have successfully created a set, they will disappear and new gems will fall into place, possibly creating a chain reaction or 'cascade' of more sets.

            You can also swap gems by clicking on one, then dragging it in the direction you want to swap. This can be faster and more efficient once you're used to it

Hints

           You can get a Hint at any time by clicking the purple Hint button on the lefthand control bar. This will cause a gem onscreen to flash briefly, indicating that it can be used to create a set.

 However, every time you use the Hint button, you will lose points

 In Timetrial mode, you will also lose several seconds of time.

Options

         The Options are accessible from the first game selection screen, or by clicking the Menu button while playing the game. They include

        Music Volume and Sound Effects you can adjust these volume sliders separately to fit your preferences.

• Fullscreen If this is checked, Bejeweled Deluxe will use your entire computer screen. If it is not checked, Bejeweled Deluxe will be played in a window. Its up to you to decide which you prefer.
  
• Custom Cursors If this box is checked, you will see special custom Bejeweled Deluxe cursors in the game rather than Windows standard cursors. If you have a special theme installed that changes your Windows cursors, you may need to activate this option to see the cursor properly in the game.
  
• Help This will show you instructions on how to play Bejeweled Deluxe.
  High Scores This will show you your best scores in both normal and timetrial modes.
  Game Modes

          You can play Bejeweled in either Normal or Timetrial mode. Switch modes by clicking the appropriate button on the lefthand control bar. You will have to abandon your game in progress to switch game modes.

Normal Mode

          In Normal mode, there is no timer and you can take as long as you like to make each move. The game will end when there are no more available moves.

           Every set or cascade you create will cause the Bonus Bar at the bottom of the screen to increment upwards. When the Bonus Bar is full, you will proceed to the next level.

  Each successive level increases the value of all sets and combos

Timetrial Mode

       Timetrial mode is for experienced Bejeweled players who want a fastpaced challenge. In Timetrial, the Bonus Bar at the bottom of the screen continually counts down towards zero. When it hits the bottom, your game is over.

       You can replenish the Bonus Bar by creating sets and combos. The bigger the combo or cascade, the more the Bonus Bar will be regenerated.

       Filling the Bonus Bar will take you to the next level. Sets and combos are worth more on each successive level, but the timer will also count down much faster

  You can press any key to pause the game while playing Timetrial

There are three game modes Classic, Arcade and Strategy. But the basics remain the same for both... rotate the tiles and try to create a fuse that launches as many rockets as possible at one time. Pick up bonus items along the way by including them in the path of a fuse. In Classic and Arcade modes, you can upgrade your rockets by picking up coins.

Gameplay Basics

In all three game modes, there are matches on the left hand side, and rockets on the right hand side. In between, there are fuse blocks. These fuses rotate counterclockwise when clicked, and will rotate clockwise when rightclicked. To launch a rocket, you must form an unbroken path of fuses from the match to the rockets. When a fuse is complete, all rockets linked to a match will automatically launch. You have a fraction of a second to quickly turn a connected fuse block if you change your mind and want to change the path of the fuse you have created. If you are really quick, you can even add extra fuses blocks to your chain while the fuse starts to burn.

HINT Try to connect fuses to the rockets FIRST, then work backwards and connect your rockets to a match. Remember, one match can launch multiple rockets

Interface Tips

Pause You can pause the game either by clicking the PAUSE button, or by pressing the spacebar on your keyboard.

Full Screen Mode You can enter or exit full screen mode either by using the checkbox in the OPTIONS dialog, or by pressing the ALT and ENTER keys on your keyboard at the same time.

Rotating Tiles You can rotate tiles by using the left or right mouse buttons the left mouse button rotates the fuse counterclockwise, the right mouse button rotates the fuse clockwise.

Dragging Tiles This can only be done in Arcade mode. You can drag a tile to a new location by pressing down the mouse button, dragging the mouse, and releasing the mouse button.

Game Modes

After the game loads, you will see a screen allowing you to choose Classic, Arcade or Strategy modes. New players should start with Classic or Strategy modes, while experienced Rocket Mania players may prefer the more frantic and actionpacked Arcade mode.

Classic Game

This is the original game of Rocket Mania. This is a timed game.

You will see a Rocket Counter in the lefthand side bar. This shows how many rockets you must launch to progress to the next level. At the top of the screen is a string of lanterns; this is your timer and when dawn approaches these lanterns will all fizzle out. You will lose if you do not launch all your rockets before the last lantern burns out.

Arcade Game

The Arcade mode is a far more fastpaced game. This is an untimed game and you can move the fuse blocks by clicking and dragging them.

This is similar to Classic mode in that you must launch a certain number of rockets to advance to the next level. But in Arcade mode, you only start with a few fuses at the bottom of the screen. New fuse blocks fall down at regular intervals but you must make sure they do not fill the screen or you will lose. Arcade mode is unique since you can MOVE fuse blocks by clicking and dragging them. You can only move a fuse to a new location that is at the same level or lower, and as long as there are no other fuses in the way.

If you want the game to play faster or you need more fuse blocks, click on the area where the tiles are dropping from and a new line of fuses will drop.

If any column of fuses touches the top of the screen, you only have a few seconds of grace time to move fuse blocks out of the offending columns, or clear some fuses by launching rockets.

Strategy Game

The Strategy mode is a much more thoughtful game, great for practice and for setting up mega rocket launches. This is an untimed game.

In Strategy mode, you have a limited number of matches you can use. The number of matches you have remaining is shown in the Match Counter in the lefthand sidebar. When you have used all your matches the game is over. The goal is to get the highest score with your available matches. So, use your matches wisely to maximize your points there is no time pressure so you can try to set up giant rocket launches.

You can earn extra matches by launching 3 or more fireworks at one time. The more rockets you launch, the more matches will fall down. When new matches drop down, you must pick them up within three turns or they will fizzle out and disappear. To pick up a match, include it in the path of any fuse that launches a rocket. You can only store up to 20 matches maximum at one time.

The goal of Noah's Ark is to save animals, two by two, by linking them to each other on the game field. Once connected, pairs of animals will fly into the Ark

Game Types

After the game loads, you will see a screen allowing you to choose Action mode, Strategy mode, or Puzzle mode. If you have a saved game, you will also see the option to continue that saved game. There is also the option to quit back to Windows.

Action Mode

Also known as the Flood mode in the web version. In Action mode, you must save animals quickly, before the rising flood waters reach the Ark

When you quit out of Strategy mode, your game will automatically be saved. You can continue it the next time you play by choosing Classic mode again.

Strategy Mode

Also known as Freefall mode in the web game. Strategy mode is a slower, turnbased game, where you can take as long as you like to pick animals, but the pieces are affected by gravity.

As in Action, your game is automatically saved whenever you quit, and can be continued by selecting Continue Saved Game the next time you play.

Puzzle Mode

Fans of a certain gembased game from PopCap will find this bonus mode strangely familiar.

This mode is locked so that you can only play for a few minutes. To unlock Puzzle mode, you must register your game

Difficulty Settings

After you select a game type, you must select a difficulty, Easy, Medium, or Hard. The tougher game settings award more points

Controls

Noah's Ark is controlled entirely with the mouse. Select an animal by clicking on it. You can deselect it by clicking on it a second time. Link it to another animal by clicking on the second animal.

You can also drag a connection from one animal to the next. Click and hold on the first animal, then move the cursor to the second animal and release.

Gameplay

Animals must be removed in pairs of the same type. There needs to be a clear path from one to the other for them to be removed. For instance, an animal that is surrounded by animals of a different sort cannot be connected to one further away.

Combos

You score a combo when you remove 2 or more sets of the same animal type in a row. For instance, if you clear 2 lions, then another set of 2 lions, you have just made a simple combo. Getting larger ones, like 9 sets of elephants in a row, is much harder, but also much more valuable.

Combos do two things... they give you extra points, and they will reduce your flood level. This can be very important later in the game, giving you more time before the waters rise dangerously high

Action Mode

Action mode is a realtime game... if you snooze, you lose Watch the flood waters rising... when they reach the ark, it will sail away without you, and the game is over

Your goal is to clear the board before this happens, so you can proceed to the next level.

Strategy Mode

This is a turnbased game. You can take as long as you like making your moves. However, it's a little trickier than Action mode, because the animals are affected by gravity, and will fall down when the tiles under them are removed.

When there are no more possible moves, some animals will be abandoned This causes the flood levels to rise. When the flood level reaches the ark, your game is over

Puzzle Mode

As in a certain gembased game of ours, the goal in Puzzle mode is to swap adjacent animals to create sets of 3 or more in a row. Do this as many times as you can before the flood gets too high

Bonus Level

After every 3 levels, you'll get a chance at the bonus Stampede Round Don't worry, you can't lose the game here...just try to make as many points as you can

Controls

        Move your explorer by clicking on a square directly adjacent to him. Diagonal moves are not allowed.

Gameplay

          Mummy Maze is a turnbased game. First you move, then the mummy moves, then it's back to you again.

Your objective in each maze is to make it to the exit without getting caught by the mummy.

The problem is that for every one square you move, the mummy moves two You need to take advantage of his limited intelligence to trick him into dead ends and culdesacs.

Tricking the Mummy

        The key to fooling the mummy is realizing how it thinks.

Normal mummies the white ones will always follow the same rules as they try to catch you

     a If the mummy can move horizontally side to side and get closer to your explorer, it will do so.

     b if the mummy can't move horizontally, but can move vertically up and down and get closer to your explorer, it will do that instead.
        Because of these rules, the mummy will often move into dead ends when it could have caught you by moving a little smarter. Luckily for you mummies aren't too smart

Scorpions

    You will also see scorpions in some mazes. These are just as deadly as mummies, but slower... they can only move 1 square each turn.

 If a mummy and a scorpion ever end up in the same square, the mummy will beat up the scorpion, knocking it out of the game.

Gates and Keys

     In some mazes you will see areas blocked off by a gate. These mazes will also have a key somewhere within.

    The gate can be opened or closed by moving onto the key square.

      Remember, the key can be triggered either by you, a mummy, or even a scorpion And it can be triggered again, closing the gate, if someone steps on the key again

Traps

    Some mazes will have traps, which are designated by the skull image on the floor. If your explorer steps on a trap, he'll meet an unpleasant end... go ahead, try it out

     However, scorpions and mummies can cross over traps freely, so be careful

Red Mummies and Scorpions

You may see mummies or scorpions that look different... they're bright red

These red mummies and scorpions behave differently than the normal ones. Their priorities for chasing you are reversed... that is, they will try to get you vertically, before they move horizontally.

In other respects they are identical to normal mummies and scorpions

Two Mummies

Some mazes will have 2 mummies in them. In the event that the two mummies ever collide, they'll get into a fight, with one being destroyed in the process

        You must arrange atoms on the board so that they match the configuration shown in the Bonus Window. If you do so, they will merge into a brand new Bonus Molecule. Bonus Molecules do not combine with other atoms, but they can be moved around the board like a regular atom.

         To trigger a Bonus Molecule's powers, DOUBLECLICK on it. This will destroy the Bonus Molecule in the process.

           There are 5 different types of Bonus Molecule. Each has a different effect. In addition, if you keep the Bonus Molecule on screen for a while, you'll get the chance to combine it with other atoms into a Level 2 Bonus Molecule. These have even greater powers.

  Level 3 Bonus Molecules If they exist, they'd have astonishing abilities...

Chromium Atoms

         You may occasionally see a strange reflective atom appear on the grid. These are CHROMIUM atoms. They basically act as wildcards.

      A Chromium atom will take on the characteristics of any atom it is next to. So you can use one to complete any molecule with 3 other colored atoms, for instance.

     Chromium atoms cannot, however, be used to complete Bonus Molecules.

Biohazards

         Occasionally you will see Biohazard atoms appear on the grid... these pulsating atoms will have a countdown printed on their side.

        Biohazards are very dangerous, because they replicate. With each move, the countdown will tick down, and when it reaches zero, the Biohazard will duplicate itself, spawning a new Biohazard atom in an adjacent square. This new Biohazard will also begin counting down... if you're not careful, they can quickly choke off the board

         Biohazards can be eliminated by making them into a molecule, as with any normal colored atom.

Radiation Rounds

          After a certain number of levels, you will see your first Radiation Round. This is a bonus round where you are challenged to remove all the atoms from the screen. If you can do so, you'll receive a bonus.

Magnet Rounds

          These are special levels that occasionally occur, in which the atoms will all fall to one side or another of the grid, drawn by a powerful magnet. This artificial gravity makes your job much trickier.

    The Bomb gets charged by completing Combos

Controls

        Atomica is controlled entirely with the mouse. To move an atom, simply click on it, then click on the square you want to move it to.

      An arrow will appear connecting the two squares if it is a valid move. You can move atoms anywhere on the board, but they cannot pass through other atoms... so some areas of the board will be blocked off as the game progresses and more atoms appear.

        If you decide you want to move a different atom than the one you've selected, just click on the other atom and it will be selected.

      Bonus Molecules can be moved like other atoms, but they must be DOUBLECLICKED to activate their special powers. Doing so will destroy the Bonus Molecule, however.

Gameplay

         You must arrange atoms on the grid to form molecules. A molecule is formed when 4 atoms of the same color are arranged in a 2x2 square.

        You can also form a double molecule by arranging 6 molecules of the same color in a 2x3 rectangle.

         When a molecule is formed, those atoms will merge together and disappear from the board, getting sucked down into the Vortex.

New Atoms

         New atoms will appear on the board every time you move and DO NOT complete a molecule. Usually, 3 new atoms will appear with each move.

        You can tell where these new atoms are going to appear by looking for the NUCLEUS SYMBOLS on the board. These glowing shapes indicate where new atoms are about to form, and what color they will be. Use this information to plan your moves

Combos

        An important part of the game is learning how to score COMBOS. These will make you lots of extra points, and can help charge your ATOMIC BOMB.

        A combo is created when you finish two or more molecules in a row. That is, you complete a molecule and then with your very next move, complete another. If you can complete a third molecule after that, it's called a Super Combo. Four atoms in a row is a Mega Combo, and so on.

        The more molecules in your combo, the higher the point bonus. Also, higher level combos will charge up your Atomic Bomb, which can be used to destroy atoms on the board. Learn how to set up combos so they can be maximized

         The GEIGER COUNTER at the top of the screen will get progressively more agitated as you make bigger combos.

Atomic Bomb

         At the bottom of the screen you will see the Atomic Bomb button and meter. When the Atomic Bomb is charged, the glass cover on the button will slide up, allowing you to press the button and detonate the bomb.

          Detonating the Atomic Bomb will destroy a number of random atoms on the grid. The higher the Bomb's charge is, the more atoms will be destroyed.

The Bomb gets charged by completing Combos

Molecule Meter

           This meter is located at the top of the screen. Whenever you complete a molecule, it will fill up a bit. To progress to the next level, you must fill it all the way up.

          In Action mode, the meter works a bit differently. It fills up on its own, and when it is completely filled, a new color of atom is added to the grid, making the game more difficult.
